EICR and Remedials for Holiday Let Near St Just
The job
The owners of a holiday cottage near St Just needed an EICR to satisfy their holiday let insurer. They'd had the property for several years and had no record of any previous electrical inspection. The cottage was booked from early summer and there was a hard deadline to get a Satisfactory certificate in place.
What I did
I carried out a full EICR, which identified several C2 (potentially dangerous) observations - no RCD protection on the bathroom circuit and exposed cable terminations in the loft. I produced the report the same day. The following week I returned to do the remedial work: new RCBO consumer unit, bathroom circuit protection added, loft wiring made safe. I re-inspected and issued a Satisfactory EICR with an EIC for the remedial work.
